The book covers his riding in the Royal Military Academy, his leading a 1,200 horse gallop of the Oxfordshire Hussars at Yeomanry camp, his boar hunting in France, his playing polo into his 50s, and his purchase at the age of 75 a front running grey that won 14 races and triggered ecstatic scenes as his homburg-hatted, cigar-chewing owner gave V for Victory signs in the unsaddling enclosure..
Renowned author, broadcaster and former jockey, Brough Scott, follows in Churchill’s hoofprints from galloping his pony in Blenheim Park, to topping the riding class whilst army training at Sandhurst, taking part in a famous cavalry charge in Sudan, playing polo in India, hunting foxes in Leicestershire and breeding racehorses near his home in Kent, after a minor interlude out of the saddle to tend to the historic task of winning the Second World War.
About the Author: Brough Scott is one of the best known figures in racing and sport although he once received a viewer's letter stating "you used to be the world's worst jockey, now you are the world's worst commentator, please shut up." A graduate of both Oxford University and of 100 winners as an amateur and professional jockey he then for 30 years presented all the major races here and overseas as anchorman for first ITV and then Channel 4 Racing, heading up the team which won the team's first BAFTA award for its coverage of the 1998 Epsom Derby. He has fronted many other programmes and documentaries including Thames Sport, C4's Books By My Bedside and BBC2's Cobbett's Rides. In 2017 he returned to ITV Racing after a gap of 45 years prompting one viewer to comment "crikey, so they are bringing back the living dead." As a journalist for the Sunday Times, Independent on Sunday and Sunday Telegraph he has three times been Sports Feature Writer of The Year. He has covered Wimbledon, the Open, the Olympics, the Football World Cup, a Rugby Lions Tour and events as exciting as the British Surfing Championships in Jersey when the sea was flat. He also still contributes to the Racing Post which he founded with Sheikh Mohammed in 1986.

UK Delivery
Orders for delivery in the UK are despatched by Courier and Signed For delivery services and will normally be delivered to you within a few days of placing your order. Signed Books are shipped in our specially made book mailing cartons, with the books themselves wrapped in paper to protect them. Sometimes we may ship your order in several parts, particularly if you have 'Pre-Order' titles in your order or titles which are held in stock with our publishing partners.
The Really Important Bit: Because we use courier and signed for delivery services, please use an address at which your parcel can be signed for during the normal working day, for example, you may want to have your order delivered to your work address if you're not at home during the day.

Another Really Important Bit: There are a number of Postcodes in the UK for which we will need to charge a shipping supplement, this will be calculated once we know the size and weight of the shipment. Where possible, we will ship single book orders (under 2kg) by Royal Mail to all UK postcodes. Multiple book orders and books over 2kg are shipped via APC Overnight, regardless of Postcode.

All overseas orders are shipped using a 'signed for' courier service - please provide an address at which your parcel can be signed for on receipt. In some cases, particularly large and heavy books, or books being shipped to remote areas, may incur an additional shipping charge - if this is the case with your order, we'll notify you as quickly as possible of these charges and to arrange the additional payment. You can of course cancel your order with an immediate refund should you not wish to accept these additional costs. Shipments to overseas territories may incur additional Duty & Tax costs which could be requested by Fed Ex at the time of delivery. These costs may vary from country to country and are not within our control and will be in addition to the costs paid to us for your delivery. If you're coming to Coles by car, why not take advantage of the 2 hours free parking at Sainsbury's Pioneer Square - just follow the signs for Pioneer Square as you drive into Bicester and park in the multi-storey car park above the supermarket. Come down the travelators, exit Sainsbury's, turn right and follow the pedestrianised walkway to Crown Walk and turn right - and Coles will be right in front of you. You don't need to shop in Sainsbury's to get the free parking!
